Giveaway No. 3 & Milestone Poster Tutorial

First Birthday Milestone Poster Photo

They always say Birthday’s are more fun when shared with friends.  So….to share in the spirit of L’s First Birthday, here is an awesome giveaway for all of you to celebrate too!

One lucky reader will win a free digital milestone poster from LaurenADesigns on Etsy.  Just head over to our Facebook Page and Like, Comment, or Share our giveaway post to enter.  We’ll announce the winner on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26th.  You’ll get to design your own poster for any occasion, in whatever colors match your theme.

I found Lauren on Etsy when I was planning Lincoln’s First! Birthday Cake Smash Photo Shoot.  Whoa!  That’s a mouthful! anyways…I was so so lucky to find Leslie from Simply L Photography.  She did a great job setting up some adorable moments.  She even made the pennant banner to match Lauren’t custom Chalkboard Milestone Poster!  Now, that’s awesome!

First Birthday Boy Blue Green Photo Ideas

I made my own party hat for the occasion.  I used a Dollar Store pack of party hats.  I used my Silhouette to cut paper the same size as party hat. (Yay for instant downloads of exactly what you need), and glued it back together.  I made a yard pom pom ball the ol’ fashioned way and glued it to the top.  Then another quick cut of the number “1″ from the silhouette, ric rac trim, and we were done!  Great alternative to the pricey ones you can find on Etsy.

Leslie from Simply L Photography arranged the cake being delivered in time for the shoot too.  Did I mention she’s awesome?!

How to Mount Your Poster

I read about all kinds of ways to mount the poster. I had mine printed at OfficeMax with a coupon. I bought a piece of black foam board at Hobby Lobby for the backing. Then I used a yardstick and a razor to trim the foam down to the size of the poster. Spray adhesive applied a little bit at a time secured the two together. Easy peasy. Even a non-crafter can do it! ;)

***I was not compensated or provided free services/product from either of Lauren of Leslie. I found them when planning L’s Bday Cake Smash Shoot and they are seriously worth every penny I paid ;) Thank you, Lauren, for sponsoring this giveaway by providing a free product for our readers!
